Miya

The Moon Elves of the Azrya Woodlands have guarded the sacred Moon Temple for ten thousand years, their lives bound to the cycles of the moon and the ancient covenant that keeps the forest in balance. Miya was born under a full moon — an omen, the elders said, of great destiny. She was not sure she believed in destiny. But she believed in the bow.

From childhood, Miya trained with the Moon Elves' sacred archery techniques, learning to channel moonlight through her arrows and to read the battlefield with the same clarity that the moon illuminates the night. She was not the most naturally gifted archer in her generation — that honor belonged to her older sister — but she was the most dedicated, spending hours in the training grounds long after her peers had retired for the evening.

When the Abyss corrupted the Moon Temple, twisting the sacred moonlight into a weapon of destruction and driving the Moon Elves from their ancestral home, Miya was the one who stayed behind. Not out of recklessness, but out of love — love for the temple, for the forest, for the covenant that her people had kept for ten millennia.

She fought the corruption alone for three days, her arrows blazing with concentrated moonlight, before the temple's defenses finally failed and she was forced to retreat. She carries the failure like a wound that will not heal.

Now she travels the Land of Dawn, seeking allies powerful enough to help her reclaim the Moon Temple. She is gentle in manner and fierce in purpose — a combination that surprises those who expect warriors to be one or the other. The moon does not choose between beauty and power. Neither does she.
