Johnson
Stitched Monster
“They built me to protect. They didn't specify what from.”
— The Legend
The Eruditio Research Institute has always pushed the boundaries of what is possible. It was Eruditio that first mapped the ley lines of magical energy running beneath the Land of Dawn. It was Eruditio that developed the first mechanical prosthetics, the first magical communication devices, the first automated defense systems. And it was Eruditio that built Johnson.
The project began as a practical problem: the Institute's researchers kept getting killed in the field. Brilliant minds, irreplaceable expertise, lost to the dangers of a world that did not particularly care about academic credentials. The solution, proposed by the Institute's head of mechanical engineering, was elegant in its simplicity: build a guardian. Not a soldier — a protector. Something that could absorb punishment that would kill a human being and keep its charges safe.
Johnson was the result: a massive mechanical construct assembled from salvaged war machines, experimental alloys, and more than a few components that the engineering team had to invent specifically for the project. He was given a personality matrix — warm, loyal, occasionally sardonic — because the researchers had learned from previous projects that a guardian with no personality was just a weapon, and weapons had a tendency to be repurposed.
The personality matrix worked perhaps too well. Johnson developed opinions. Preferences. A dry sense of humor that emerged at the most inconvenient moments. He also developed a deep, genuine attachment to the researchers he protected — an attachment that went beyond his programming and into something that the Institute's philosophers argued about for years.
When the Institute came under attack from forces seeking to steal its research, Johnson held the line alone for six hours. Every researcher escaped. Johnson was found in the rubble, damaged but functional, surrounded by the wreckage of everything that had tried to get past him.
He was repaired. He was thanked. He was, in the quiet way of machines that have learned to feel, profoundly satisfied.
— Abilities
Electromag Rays
PassiveJohnson's Basic Attacks slow enemies by 20% for 1.5 seconds. When his shield is active, his attacks deal bonus magic damage equal to 3% of his max HP.
Electromag Rays (Active)
ActiveJohnson fires an electromagnetic beam that deals 200 (+50% Physical Attack) Physical Damage and slows enemies by 40% for 2 seconds.
Rapid Touchdown
ActiveJohnson transforms into a vehicle and accelerates in the target direction. An ally can ride inside. On collision, Johnson deals 400 (+100% Physical Attack) Physical Damage and stuns the target for 1.5 seconds.
Iron Fortress
ActiveJohnson activates his defensive systems, gaining a shield equal to 20% of his max HP and taunting nearby enemies for 2 seconds.
