Gusion

The Paxley family has produced mages of extraordinary power for six generations — scholars of the arcane, advisors to kings, keepers of the Sacred Light. Gusion was born the youngest of three brothers, and from childhood he was told that the family's legacy was his to carry. He studied the sacred texts, mastered the light-weaving techniques, and excelled at every test the family elders placed before him.

But Gusion was never satisfied with mastery alone. While his brothers pursued power through tradition, Gusion pursued it through obsession. He discovered, buried in the deepest vaults of the Paxley library, a forbidden technique: the art of Holy Blade — a method of channeling sacred energy not through spells, but through thrown daggers, each one a conduit for concentrated divine force.

The technique was forbidden for good reason. It required the practitioner to sacrifice a portion of their own life force with each throw, trading longevity for lethality. The family elders, when they discovered Gusion's experiments, were horrified. They ordered the texts destroyed and Gusion confined.

He was gone before dawn.

Now Gusion wanders the Land of Dawn as a mercenary of extraordinary skill, his silver daggers flashing in the dark, his sacred energy burning cold and bright. He does not fight for the Paxley name. He fights because the Holy Blade technique demands to be used — and because somewhere in the world, there is an enemy worthy of everything he has sacrificed to become.
